UDL
When we first talked about UDL I thought it was mainly for students with special needs and how a teacher can make the curriculum reach them. I now have a netter understanding of UDL and that it is really designed for all students. I also feel that using the UDL model would make the teachers know and understand their students better. It will allow the teacher to meet the goals of all children and not just some. I also feel that while our supervisors would like us to incorporate the UDL process, they would not be able to give us the training to help us incorporate UDL and then I am not sure many teachers would realize how “easy” it would be to do. It would be another good idea gone badly in the school systems. In my classroom I am very data driven and try to group my accordingly, but sometimes I know I miss a student, and I feel that using some of the different concepts of UDL will help me to not miss a student and will allow me to further understand my students and their learning abilities.

Lizzy,
I had the same first impression of UDL. When I started reading it, I thought that it would not apply to me because I do not have many special needs students. I do not usually get students who can’t read or hear because it would not make sense for them to take a foreign language. However, after reading more about UDL, I realized that I do like the idea of it. I already incorporate many UDL principles in my classroom, but the reading and the e-book assignment gave me even more ideas. I do want to attempt to have universal access for all in my classroom.
